About Sheikh Imam Cultural Club
The Sheikh Imam Cultural Club is a registered non-profit dedicated to keeping the songs, spirit, and legacy of Sheikh Imam alive — not as a static archive, but as a living, singing, growing community. We are bringing together listeners, singers, researchers, artists, and lifelong fans across generations and continents to preserve, perform, reinterpret, and study one of the most significant voices of Arab leftist resistance music.
We are committed to promoting and disseminating the music of Sheikh Imam in all its forms — from communal singing and live performance to recording, education, and creative reinterpretation — so that his songs may be heard, sung, and cherished by audiences everywhere.
Singing With Imam (Collective Singing)
At the heart of the Club is the vision of regular collective singing of Sheikh Imam's songs — spaces where people gather to listen, learn, and sing together. These sessions are intended to be informal but gently structured, gradually building shared repertoire, memory, and confidence, so that new voices and long-time listeners can join in side by side. We warmly welcome anyone who would like to organise or participate in a singing gathering, wherever they are in the world.
Imam Nights (Concerts & Themes)
We are working toward organising concerts and themed musical evenings that spotlight different parts of Imam's repertoire, paired with historical context and interpretation. Some nights will centre on collective singing; others will explore specific themes in his work, opening the songs onto wider questions of memory and politics. If you are interested in hosting or collaborating on an Imam Night in your city, we would love to hear from you.
In Imam's School of Song (New Interpretations)
We encourage fresh musical and artistic responses to Sheikh Imam's work — from new ways of singing his songs to original compositions that extend his concerns. This strand will experiment with contemporary formats such as short videos, reels, and visual pieces, carrying his legacy into new creative languages. We welcome and aim to support anyone who wants to create, reinterpret, or reimagine Imam's music in any form.
Traces of Imam (Research, Archive & Writing)
This strand is dedicated to building a living hub for everything related to Sheikh Imam's legacy. We are developing an open digital library — a platform that will bring together all available materials about Imam in one place: playlists, documentaries, interviews, essays, academic research, and creative writing, alongside the Club's own growing body of work.
We warmly invite anyone to contribute. Whether you hold recordings, writings, photographs, or other materials; whether you want to add something to the library, write a research piece, produce a documentary, or simply share something you think we may have missed — this platform is being built as a shared resource, and your contribution matters. We will do our best to support the production of new work related to Imam and to gather all existing work into one accessible hub for others to discover and use.
Imam's Global Network (Connecting Clubs & Communities Worldwide)
We are building a platform to connect Sheikh Imam clubs, gatherings, and lovers of his music around the world, a growing directory of circles and initiatives across cities and countries. Whether you run a singing circle in Cairo, host a listening session in Paris, or simply carry Imam's songs in your heart in São Paulo, this network is yours — weaving scattered threads into one vibrant global community.
We warmly encourage you to connect with us and become a member of Imam's Global Network. Reach out, introduce your group or yourself, and help us grow this worldwide community of Imam lovers together.
